As one of Europe’s foremost auteurs, Luca Guadagnino is this year’s recipient of the Göteborg Film Festival’s Nordic Honorary Dragon Award. He will receive the Honorary Award and participate in a Directors talk after the screening of Call Me By Your Name on February 3.
The Italian filmmaker is known for his personal, emotional and intimate films. His first breakthrough on the international film scene was in 2006 with the film I Am Love, starring Tilda Swinton. Since then, he has directed films such as A Bigger Splash, Suspiria and Love in Italian.
In 2017, Luca Guadagnino released his masterpiece Call Me by Your Name; a love story between the teenage boy Eliot and the American student Oliver. The film takes place in northern Italy in the early 1980s and has been highly acclaimed.
