Karin Broos is foremost famous for her photorealistic depictions of women caught in different moments, often in the home or in the nature in Värmland and often with an undertone of melancholy. Her breakthrough came with an exhibition at Kristinehamn's Art Museum in 2008. However she has been active since 1975 and has over the years exhibited in museums such as Liljevalchs Salonger, Borås Konstmuseum and Varberg Konsthall. Together with her husband Marc Broos, se runs the Alma Löv Museum in Värmland.
She found the inspiration for the poster in the German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder's film The Merchant of Four Seasons where Irm Hermann plays one of the main roles.
- The imagery and emotions in his films have affected me so strongly that I felt that I wanted to make a poster in connection to him. I remember Irm Hermanns face so clearly that it came naturally for me to paint her face on a canvas. There is also so many feelings in her expression that I thought it felt appealing for film, Karin says.
