Dragon Award – Our Competitions
At the closing gala of the Göteborg Film Festival, the prestigious Dragon Awards are presented to the winners of the festival’s competition sections. Among the awards is the Dragon Award Best Nordic Film, one of the world’s largest film prizes, with a monetary award of 400,000 SEK, granted to the winning film in the Nordic Competition.
The gala also announces the winner of The Ingmar Bergman International Debut Award. Ingmar Bergman served as the honorary chairman of the Göteborg Film Festival until his passing in 2007 and, together with the festival, established this award. It is given to a debut filmmaker whose work explores existential themes and demonstrates a dynamic or experimental approach to the medium of film.
