Lovisa Sköld was born in Småland in 1985 but has called Gothenburg home for the past 20 years. Her love of creating was sparked at HDK-Valand, where she earned her art teaching degree in 2011. Two years later, Lovisa Sköld chose to leave the teaching profession to create art full-time, and today she spends her days in her studio at Stigbergstorget in Majorna, where she paints all her works — including the 2026 festival poster.

"It's something of a dream for me to get this assignment! I've lived in this city for quite a long time and been to many film festivals, so getting to create this image that will be seen around town and on the festival program feels incredibly special and honoring," says Lovisa Sköld.

In recent years, her hyperrealistic paintings have received considerable media attention and have been shown at exhibitions around Sweden as well as at Room57 Gallery in New York. The piece she has painted for Göteborg Film Festival 2026 naturally reflects her artistic signature: glossy lacquered garments, which she ties to this year's focus: Focus: Truth.

"I always work with glossy materials, which for me is a symbol of surface — something that in turn reflects how we live today, for example the superficiality we see on social media. What we show there isn't always the truth."
