The 2018 Honorary Prize awarded to Barbro Lindgren

Barbro Lindgren is one of Sweden’s most beloved children’s authors. For over 50 years, she has captivated readers with works such as Loranga, Masarin och Dartanjang, Whose Little Hat Is Flying, and Max and Benny. A recipient of numerous awards, she was honoured with the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) in 2014. In 2018, Barbro Lindgren was the Guest of Honour at Göteborg’s Lilla Filmfestival.

Many of her books have been adapted into films, and she has also written original scripts for several productions. During Göteborg’s Lilla Filmfestival, screenings included Mamman och den vilda bebin, Nämen Benny, Loranga, Masarin och Dartanjang, Om Åke “Limpan” Andersson, and Det stora barnkalaset.

On Saturday, January 19, 2018, Barbro Lindgren visited our cinema, Draken. Attendees had the chance to meet her in person, hear her speak about her writing and filmmaking, and discover how she created her much-loved characters.
