Eva von Bahr and Love Larson awarded the 2023 Honorary Prize
With three Academy Award nominations (for Dune, A Man Called Ove, and The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared), Eva von Bahr and Love Larson are two of the world’s most renowned makeup designers, with a wealth of international prestige projects to their names. But they have also been a constant presence in contemporary Swedish children's films, creating unique expressions for brave Vikings, dancing vegetables, plump executives, and a long parade of monsters, ghosts, and vampires. Through their intricate and imaginative makeup artistry, Eva von Bahr and Love Larson have opened doors to fantastic cinematic worlds.
"It feels fantastic to welcome Eva von Bahr and Love Larson as recipients of the honorary prize. For decades, they have brought color, form, and personality to a vast array of film characters. Without them, Swedish children's films would have been a much duller story," says Jonas Holmberg, Artistic Director of Göteborg Film Festival.
"We are incredibly honored to receive this award at one of the most important film festivals, which helps a new generation discover the magical world of cinema," say Eva von Bahr and Love Larson.
The screening of Nelly Rapp – The Mirror of Death will begin with a ceremony where von Bahr and Larson will be presented with the honorary prize. During the Göteborg Film Festival Prisma, Krakel Spektakel will also be shown, and visitors will have the opportunity to meet von Bahr and Larson and learn the secrets behind the couple’s fantastic creations during a special program event.
