What happens when art and activism intersect? Can acts of defiance transform into powerful works of art? This year at Göteborg Film Festival, you’ll have the chance to find out for yourself. Together with artist-in-residence Britta Marakatt-Labba, Greenpeace, and the Saami reindeer herding community Ohredahke, the festival has created a unique art installation in a secret location – deep within an ancient forest under imminent threat of deforestation.
But this is more than an installation; it’s a call to action. Through art and civil disobedience, the project aims to protect the forest and spark dialogue about its future. At The Activist Cinema, you can witness this powerful act firsthand as the festival livestreams the action, turning the screening room into a space for engaged activism.
