Göteborg Film Festival Announces Summer 2026 Residencies for Ukrainian filmmakers

For the fifth consecutive summer, Göteborg Film Fund welcomes three Ukrainian filmmakers to work on their projects in Göteborg. Several previous participants today have ongoing collaborations and discussions with Swedish co-producers for their projects.

The call is open for Ukrainian directors or screenwriters of feature fiction or feature documentary projects, at any stage of production. The residencies will take place in August-September 2026.

Each residency consist of:

  • Two-month’s stay in Göteborg, with apartment and per diem (SEK 10,000/month)
  • Travel costs to and from Göteborg
  • Workspace at Göteborg Film Festival’s office
  • Networking opportunities with the local film industry
  • Individual coaching

The residencies are organised with financing from Region Västra Götaland, in cooperation with Företagsbostäder and the Film Office – The City of Gothenburg.

How to apply?

To apply for the residency, please submit the following:

  • A short description of the project you wish to work with during the residency
  • CV of the filmmaker (can be director or screenwriter)
  • Personal letter, including a plan of your goals in Göteborg
  • Don’t forget to mention where you are based – we prioritize filmmakers with their base within Ukraine.

The deadline for applications is April 15 at 24:00 CEST.
