The MOE Foundation Supports Alicia Vikander Film Lab – An Investment in the Next Generation of Filmmakers

Gothenburg is Sweden’s film capital, and the Alicia Vikander Film Lab plays a crucial role in securing this position for the future.

The MOE Foundation’s donation of SEK 980,000 ensures the continued operation of the Alicia Vikander Film Lab, which provides middle school students in Gothenburg the opportunity to learn the art of filmmaking. Each year, three middle schools participate, involving all students from a single grade. The students receive guidance from film educators and visits from Alicia Vikander and other filmmakers, who share their experiences.

Since the project began, over 1,000 students from nine schools have participated, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and teachers. Many young people are now considering careers in the film industry, with the personal interactions with established filmmakers being particularly valued.

“After three incredible years of unforgettable films and inspiring meetings with young filmmakers, I am thrilled that the Madeleine Olsson Eriksson Foundation has chosen to support the continued work of the Alicia Vikander Film Lab. Together with the Göteborg Film Festival, I look forward to giving more young people the chance to discover the power of film. It is a joy to inspire the next generation of filmmakers,” says Alicia Vikander.

For the period 2025–2027, the Alicia Vikander Film Lab plans to focus on schools in the city’s underprivileged areas to contribute to positive development there. It also aims to strengthen collaboration with parents to better understand and support the hopes and aspirations of the students.

Gothenburg is Sweden’s film capital, and the Alicia Vikander Film Lab is pivotal in ensuring this legacy. The MOE Foundation’s financial contribution is essential for the Film Lab to continue its vital work.
