The 49th Göteborg Film Festival is Open

With the world premiere of The Quiet Beekeeper by Marcus Carlsson at Draken, followed by an unforgettable opening night at Hotel Draken, the 49th Göteborg Film Festival has officially begun. The opening weekend kicks off with Film Forum Sweden, the prestigious Startsladden short film award, and a vibrant programme filled with premieres, talks, parties, and more.
This year’s festival presents an impressive line-up of 266 films from 76 countries, showcasing the diversity and vitality of international cinema alongside the brilliance of Nordic filmmaking. This year’s theme, Focus: Truth, explores how truth is portrayed, shaped, and questioned – both on screen and beyond it. The focus programme includes curated selection of films, panels, and initiatives.
We welcome a record of 2500 accredited industry delegates from 50 countries to Göteborg in 2026. The industry programme features more than 100 films and series in various stages of production, alongside nearly 250 speakers sharing insights and expertise on our stages.
