Zar Amir Ebrahimi and Miia Tervo Awarded at Nordic Film Market

On January 30, Göteborg Film Festival’s 26th Nordic Film Market announced the winners of the market awards: You Crazy Thing, directed by Miia Tervo, received the €15,000 Film Finances Scandinavia Award, and Honor of Persia, directed by Zar Amir Ebrahimi, was honoured with the Tint Post-Production Award worth SEK 400,000 (approx. € 35,000).

Film Finances Scandinavia Award
Discovery Co-production Platform

, directed by Miia Tervo and produced by Marko Talli (Yellow Film & TV), has been awarded the Film Finances Scandinavia Award, €15,000 in development support. The award recognises a Nordic feature project, from the Nordic Film Market’s Discovery lineup, that demonstrates artistic excellence and international potential. The award is presented by Film Finances Scandinavia. 

Jury: Goran Kapetanović (Sweden), Director; Katrin Mersmann (Germany), Head of Funding and International Co-production, MOIN Film Fund; Paolo Bertolin (Italy), Senior programmer, Artistic Director, New Zealand International Film Festival.

Jury statement:“We unanimously decided to award a story coming from a remote place that hits close to the heart thanks to an equally heartfelt and hilarious presentation. This project promises to turn into a melancholic yet humorous view on human life that reveals how what makes us different could be just a pair of keys.”

Synopsis: Aino, a broke-ass mental health nurse who hates the rich, prepares a performance with her patients for TV’s Talent competition. But when she falls in love with one of the patients, wealthy investment consultant Mikael, Aino has to learn that in order to be loved you have to dare to reveal yourself with all your craziness. 

Tint Post-Production Award
Nordic Gateway 

The Tint Post-Production Award, valued at 400,000 SEK (€35,000), was awarded to directed by Zar Amir Ebrahimi and produced by Mohammad Farokhmanesh, Zar Amir Ebrahimi, and Jacob Jarek, brave new work, Alambic Production and Profile Pictures. Presented by Göteborg-based post-production company Tint, the award recognises an exceptional project from the Nordic Gateway section, offering high-quality post-production services, colour grading and access to Tint's state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos Theatrical mixing stage, to support the winning project’s artistic vision. 

Jury: Claus Ladegaard (Denmark), Film Consultant; Jacobine van der Vloed (Netherlands), Managing Director, ACE Producers; Maria Ekerhovd (Norway) Producer, MER Film.

Jury statement:“With a captivating artistic expression, this writer/director tells a courageous and personal story, what we believe the audience needs and wants to see.”
