Every year 8 Nordic films are nominated to Göteborg Film Festival’s Dragon Award Best Nordic Film. Volvo Car Group is the presenting partner of the award which is accompanied by a cash prize of SEK 1 000 000. The 2017 winner was Sami Blood, directed by Amanda Kernell.
Dragon Award Best Nordic Film is the largest film cash prize in the world and has been financed by Volvo Car Group, the Västra Götaland Region and the City of Göteborg. Every year the winner is decided by an international jury, which in 2017 consists of cinematographer Ita Zbroniec-Zajt, two-time Dragon Award Best Nordic Film-winning director Hisham Zaman, CPH PIX Festival Director Jacob Niiendam and screenwriter Margrét Örnólfdóttir.
