This year, we’re turning truth into an alternative currency at Göteborg Film Festival.

What is the truth worth to you? With that question, we’re putting the value of honesty to the test. That’s why we’re introducing a new way to pay for your festival pass: with truth. As a visitor, you can book a “Truth Ticket” that you pay by telling the truth, while connected to a polygraph, during a live lie detector test, in front of an audience. If you complete the test you recieve a Truth Ticket, if you fail you receive nothing.

What are Truth Tickets?

Truth Tickets is an initiative where visitors can earn a festival ticket by undergoing a real lie detector test. If you pass the test, you receive a Truth Ticket – if you fail, you receive nothing.

What does a Truth Ticket mean?

A Truth Ticket is equivalent to a cinema ticket and a festival pass, and can be redeemed for a ticket to regular festival screenings, subject to availability, during Göteborg Film Festival 2026.

How does it work?

Participants enter a specially built interrogation room and undergo a test led by a polygraph specialist. If their answers are assessed as truthful, they are rewarded with a Truth Ticket.

How long does the experience take?

The test itself is relatively short, approximately 10 minutes.

Who conducts the tests?

The tests are led by Ørjan Hesjedal, a professional polygraph specialist, who is responsible for both conducting the test and assessing the results.
