Tina Mackic awarded the 2022 Honorary Prize
There are a few truly iconic characters in the history of Swedish children’s film and television. Pippi Longstocking, Alfons Åberg, Björne, and Bamse. Now, we can add a new name to this list: Sommarskuggan. Since Sommarskuggan, created by Tina Mackic, first appeared on SVT Barn in 2016, the mischievous, pitch-black character has spread shadowy slime across a complex TV universe, shaping an entire generation’s childhood. As a screenwriter and director, Tina Mackic has not only explored narrative techniques in contemporary TV culture but has also created a safe space where children can explore and challenge their emotions and experience suspense on their own terms.
“It’s a huge honor, and I still pinch myself a little. The Sommarskuggan universe would never have grown this big without the children’s engagement. It’s something I will always be deeply grateful for. We have created this together,” says Tina Mackic upon receiving the honorary prize on October 29.
Tina Mackic also directed the opening film of Prisma, LasseMaja's Detective Agency – The Scorpion's Riddle.
