Rakel, a strict Christian, lives in 1930s northern Sweden. When her husband Teodor starts a sect claiming directions from God, she’s forced to join the explicit cult. As things unravel, Rakel faces a dilemma: how to protect her stepdaughter and hold the family together while Teodor's actions starkly oppose her beliefs. Based on true events and inspired by Bengt Pohjanen's novel Dagning, röd!, Raptures is the first feature film with a main dialogue in the minority language Meänkieli.
