The 2024 honorary award at the children’s and youth festival Göteborg Film Festival Prisma is awarded to Linda Hambäck
Linda Hambäck’s contribution to Swedish children’s and youth films is unparalleled. Her acclaimed films, such as Gordon & Paddy and The Ape Star, have been showcased at some of the world’s leading film festivals, delighting children and adults alike.
“It is incredibly exciting to have Linda Hambäck join us at the festival to receive our honorary award. With her humorous, heartfelt, and thrilling stories about everything from toads, gorillas, and poop to friendship and embracing differences, Hambäck has created a delicate and entirely unique universe for young audiences,” says Pia Lundberg, Artistic Director of Göteborg Film Festival.
“I am truly honored and overjoyed to receive this award—creating cinema for children is the most rewarding work one can imagine. Films are meant to be experienced in the cinema, and sometimes, when it all comes together, the experience can move mountains, spark laughter, or simply transport us to places we never knew existed. A heartfelt thank you to Göteborg Film Festival Prisma for this award—it warms my heart!” says Linda Hambäck.
During Göteborg Film Festival Prisma, Hambäck’s films Gordon & Paddy, The Ape Star, and Imagine will be screened. Additionally, the festival will feature an animation studio where children and young people can try their hand at the craft and draw inspiration from Hambäck’s film The Poo Film – The World of Dolores and Gunellen.
