Three Ukrainian Filmmakers Selected for Residency at Göteborg Film Festival
For the fifth consecutive year, Ukrainian filmmakers will spend two months working in a summer residency in Göteborg.
The selected participants will stay in Göteborg during August and September, working on their projects at the festival’s offices while networking with the local film industry. The residency program is funded by the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Region of Västra Götaland, with support from the Film Office of the City of Göteborg, and in collaboration with Företagsbostäder, which provides apartments.
“This year we have assembled a group of filmmakers who are at very different stages in their careers: one is an experienced producer and director, one is well underway with her debut feature, and one is an exciting new talent. We look forward to offering them a peaceful working environment in late-summer Göteborg and introducing them both to the film industry and, of course, to audiences,” says Camilla Larsson, Head of Göteborg Film Fund at Göteborg Film Festival.
The resident filmmakers arriving in Göteborg in August are:
Olga Gibelinda – producer, director, screenwriter

Gibelinda works at the intersection of documentary and fiction cinema, exploring themes of freedom, identity, memory, and human dignity. She graduated from the Wajda Film School and the Gdynia Documentary Film School in Poland, and has participated in international development programs, including the Film Bridge Directors Programme.
In 2025, her documentary Queens of Joy, about three drag queens in wartime Ukraine, has been screened at festivals around the world.
In Göteborg, Gibelinda will primarily work on the screenplay development of the fiction feature King Arthur, as well as the music for the documentary The Firing Line, which she is directing. She is currently in Cannes as producer of Crossing the Ox, directed by Svitlana Lishchynska, which has been selected for the Spotlighted Projects section, where feature-length documentaries are showcased within the Cannes Docs program.
Anastasiia Tykha – director and screenwriter
Tykha is an emerging Ukrainian director. She graduated from the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Film, and Television and participated in the Doc. Pro course at the Wajda School in Warsaw. Her work focuses on important social and political events, particularly the impact of war. She is the co-director of the feature documentary Summertime in Ukraine, which became one of the highest-grossing documentary theatrical releases in Ukraine in 2025. In addition to her work in cinema, she is a street photographer who documents everyday life through observational photography and video diaries.
In Göteborg, she will develop the screenplay for her debut fiction feature Reminiscence. She is currently developing the project at the Midpoint Feature Launch workshop.
Zhenya Korotkov – director, screenwriter, stand-up comedian

Korotkov is currently a second-year student at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Cinema and Television. His debut short film My Father – Prometheus was released in 2025. He has worked as a stand-up comedian for seven years and has built a large following on Instagram.
In Göteborg, he will develop the screenplay for his debut feature Mama Bear.
The selection committee consists of Camilla Larsson, Fund Manager at Göteborg Film Fund, and Olena Yershova, producer at Tato Film.
