In Hamburg, 25-year-old Chinese artist Qing is facing deportation for his poor performance in German class, where he is tutored by Bassam (35), a Syrian cook. As their bond deepens, jealousy and emotional tension grow. After a passionate night together, Bassam disappears. Qing fails his exam, but discovers what freedom really means. Years later, their paths cross again in another European city.
