Per Åhlin began his career in illustrating books and advertising. His first animations came in the 60’s and he soon came to collaborate with Hasse Alfredsson and Tage Danielsson in numerous productions, including Svenska Bilder, Picassos äventyr and Mannen som slutade röka.
In 1974 he was awarded a Guldbagge for Dunderklumpen, and the following year came Sagan om Karl-Bertil Jonssons julafton, which up to today is a given program in SVT’s television during Christmas eve. In 1989 he made a full animated film Resan till Melonina, which aslo was awarded with a Guldbagge, and in 2000 his feature film Hundhotellet premiered. In recent years, Per Åhlin has directed the films about Lilla spöket Laban, Lilla Anna och Långa Farbrorn and Emil & Ida i Lönneberga.
