With the festival Focus: Apocalypse, the American climate expert Roy Scranton will attend the festival. Roy Scranton is convinced that global warming will change the entire ecosystem to the extent that humanity is completely beyond rescue. His message is simple: We must begin to prepare ourselves that our civilisation will go under.
Roy Scranton is widely awarded and in 2013 published the book Learning to Die in the Anthropocene: Reflections on the End of Civilization, which received enormous attention. He has also written the collection of essays We’re Doomed. Now What? – Essays on War and Climate Change. Roy Scranton has been published in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Nation, Dissent, LIT, Los Angeles Review of Books and Boston Review and works at the Univeristy of Notre Dame.
