Legendary Hagabion hosts the Göteborg Film Festival in two of its three halls. The cinema opened at Viktoriahuset street in 1983, but was previously located at Skolgatan 26 in Haga between 1974 and 1983—hence the name. Run as a non-profit by the association Folkets Bio, Hagabion screens quality films from around the world year-round, with a focus on cinema beyond Hollywood. In the same building, Hagabions Café offers a welcoming bar and restaurant where film enthusiasts gather to socialise and talk cinema.
