Göteborg Film Festival

We hade the great honor to present Jerzy Kucia as the year’s animator in focus at the festival 2014. His masterpieces, from Return (1972) to Turning Instruments (2000), are both characterized by his fascinating visual quality. He is considered one of the leading masters within Polish animation tradition.

In the Master Class he held during the festival, he taught us to never take what we see for granted. In order too see, we must learn how to look. Kucia uses animation as a medium to record, describe and illustrate the inner workings of humans, but also to criticise and expose ideological lies.
