The twofold Palme d’Or winner Billie August visited the festival with the Swedish premiere of A Fortunate Man. August trained as a cinematographer and photographer in Stockholm before attending the National Film School of Denmark, from where he graduated in cinematography in 1973. In 1992, he was awarded Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival for his film The Best Intentions. He was also awarded a Golden Globe and an Oscar for best foreign film with Pelle the Conqueror. A Fortunate Man, is an adaption of Nobel laureate Henrik Pontoppidan’s classic novel.
