Comments Off on Stora TeaternStora Teatern is a stately building rising at the foot of Avenyn. The elegant and richly decorated theater salon, with three balconies, ceiling murals and a grand chandelier, is preserved in original form. Here you can attend, among other things, the festival’s popular red-carpet screenings. While here you can also grab a coffee or sip on a glass of wine, beer or spirits before screenings. The building was designed by Bror Carl Malmberg and it was carried out in a New Renaissance style.
Stora Teatern, or ‘The Grand Theater,’ was inaugurated in 1859. At that time it was called Nya Teatern, or ‘The New Theater.’ Today, Stora Teatern is a part of Göteborg Kulturförvaltning and presents, throughout the course of the year, many special performances ranging from dance, theater, new circus and concerts.
