Klaus Kinski

Germany

Few actors are as shrouded in myth as Klaus Kinski. Perhaps the most headstrong and, perhaps, the most twisted actor of all time—if you were to believe the stories about him. Only one director could endure working with him more than once. That is, of course, Werner Herzog.

Together they worked out no less than five acclaimed films of a rare kind: Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972), Nosferatu (1979), Woyzeck (1979), Fitzcarraldo (1982) and Cobra Verde (1987).

Klaus Kinski visited the festival at its opening year in 1979. Then with the film Nosferatu.
